The Eastern Africa Regional Digital Integration Project (EA-RDIP) has officially commenced stakeholder engagement activities for the priority fiber optic routes, following the launch of the exercise by the Minister and Director General of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology.
A delegation led by the Director General, including members of the EA-RDIP team and other officials, undertook a field visit to Berbera in the Saahil region, where the stakeholder engagement process is set to begin. The delegation was received by the Regional Governor, Deputy Governor, and other local authorities.
During the meeting, the Director General briefed regional leadership on the Ministry’s ongoing initiatives, with particular emphasis on the planned fiber optic deployment. The project is expected to significantly strengthen digital connectivity in the Saahil region, especially along the Hargeisa–Berbera corridor.
The EA-RDIP Project Manager further highlighted the anticipated socio-economic benefits of expanded fiber connectivity, while outlining the implementation approach for stakeholder engagement and the subsequent rollout of fiber optic infrastructure across the identified priority routes. create subject this news
